Custom useable typeface created for Parsons Typography 2019.

Tribe was a custom typeface I designed in 2019 for Parsons Core Typography in 2019.

This project involved the creation of a completely original typeface, intended to be a header font for media. Tribe was created specifically for album covers/posters. For this project I focused around 90’s hip hop culture as inspiration and the sharp and complicated custom fonts of their album covers (Ex. Tribe Called Quest, De La Sol, Wu Tang Clan) . The goal was to create a font that was able to be used universally across all album covers of this time. TRIBE’s goal was to capture that same handrawn energy carried through hip hop culture and street art of the ‘90s. 

Graffiti type was also a major inspiration in creating this typeface.
